20 years ago, the TCU campus seemed like a distant bubble within our own community.

The opportunity for the kind of personalized educational experience we offer was completely out of reach — or not on the radar at all — of some of Fort Worth’s best and brightest students.

Today, TCU purple can be seen in every neighborhood. The Community Scholars program reflects the ongoing effort for TCU to be part of more a racially diverse Fort Worth, attracting local academic talent that contributes so much to our campus and city.

Meet Courtland MacQueenette ’16, who had offers from Harvard, Dartmouth and Texas A&M universities but yearned to be a Horned Frog since the age of 10. The full ride he received as a Community Scholar brought him to TCU.
